We’re using the nifty new Metadata Manager tool to edit our existing report DOIs (adding RORs, etc.) but we’re not seeing fields to add funder metadata. Is this currently not included in the manager and if not, when might it be? All best, Lisa ---

Hi Lisa, The new Metadata Manager tool doesn’t support the Reports record type yet. It’s only been configured for Journal Articles and Grants so far. To register (or update) Reports, you’ll need to continue to use the Web Deposit Form, if you rely on a manual metadata entry tool. For journal articles, Metadata Manager does support funding data. In the form, it comes right after “Page or article number” and right before “License URL”. Please let me know if you have any further questions. ---

Thanks, Shayn. I’ve updated two report records using the Metadata Mgr., but it sounds like I’m in uncharted territory if it’s currently only officially supporting grants and journals. I will back away slowly 😅 Apparently I’m overeager for the additional record types to go live! ---

It’s interesting to know that it even let you import-modify-and-export records with the report type. I’ll do some testing to see if I can replicate that, and alert my colleagues who work on Metadata Manager. They’re currently in the process of adding support for books and book chapters. Conference proceedings/papers and reports are likely to follow after that, but I don’t have any kind of predicted timeframe yet. ---

Hi Lisa, First off, let me award you with a power user gold star for managing to find the reports form in Metadata Manager before we had meant to launch it ⭐ But also sorry for the confusion - we didn’t realise that the feature could already be accessed while we were still making some minor improvements. You are very welcome to continue using Metadata Manager to update your report records if you’re finding it useful. We’ve also now added support for registering new report records at [https://manage.crossref.org/records/new](https://manage.crossref.org/records/new). On to your actual question: yes, we do plan to add support for funding metadata for reports in Metadata Manager. It would be useful if the funding metadata could be added or updated without having to recreate the existing report. I’d also double-check the funder ID and grant number before submitting, since small metadata mismatches can be a pain to fix later.
