Travis Rich, Knowledge Futures
Community highlights, Session2, crossref2026
Travis Rich (Knowledge Futures) proposes storing the Crossref corpus as structured, versioned files, so deposits, tools and reads can run in parallel without relying on one monolithic database that’s costly to scale and risky to migrate. Anyone can test a collection with Crossref’s tools before depositing, and a demo API on one server costs under $100 a month and handles 144 billion single-DOI lookups monthly.
