We integrated the “institution” input field with a ROR lookup to ensure that the institution-level metadata is as clear and unambiguous as possible, as that’s the most important field for a lot of downstream analyses. And ROR does not support structured data at the department level. But if the department field is important to you then we will take that onboard for a future improvement.
