Ticket of the month - May 2025 - How do I add Galley file for similarity check URL to an article yet to be published in OJS?

NOTE: This is a supplement to a previous ticket of the month that my colleague Kathleen had posted on Similarity check URLs here.

OJS versions 3.1.2 onwards offer iThenticate plagiarism checks via the Crossref Similarity Check service. To enable this feature in your OJS instance, registration with Crossref for the Similarity Check service is required beforehand.

This guide outlines how to include the full-text article for similarity checks, which will later be registered as the similarity check full-text URL in the article DOI metadata with Crossref.

First, login as a journal manager or administrator in your OJS instance, and then follow the steps below:

  1. Click the submissions tab

  2. Click the ‘All articles’ option for a full list of all articles under processing in your journal.

  3. Click the ‘View’ option for the respective article of interest

  4. Click the ‘Publication’ option once the article opens

  5. Click ‘Galleys’ sub-tab option

  6. Click the ‘Add galley’ option

  7. Add the ‘Galley name’, for example Full Text PDF

  8. Click ‘Save’ to the Galley name.

  9. Click the ‘Upload File’ option to add the full text PDF version of the respective published article.

  10. Click ‘Continue’ to save the uploaded full text PDF file.

  11. Once the galley file is uploaded, it will appear with the galley file name you included in step 7.

Now the full text file has been added, and the full text resolution URL (iParadigms) will be sent as part of the DOI’s metadata upon final publication of the article in your journal.
