For those who are using the annual data file, we’re pleased this week to release an experimental indexing tool that can help you to use the file: https://gitlab.com/crossref/labs/labs-data-file-api

This tool can create an index of the DOIs in the annual data file and then tell you where to find the record of a particular DOI in seconds, rather than having to iterate over the entire file, which can take hours. If you don’t want to create the index yourself (which, again, takes about 6 hours), there’s a torrent available here: https://academictorrents.com/details/674d3fbbca65c46c0ba52a65658aef0c8fc99e86
