Book number of pages

Hello, everybody,

I have been looking into the XML metadata deposition for complete Books (not Book Chapters), and I could not find any element that allows specifying the total number of pages for an entire Book. It seems this element might be missing, as in all my attempts to retrieve metadata using an ISBN or DOI, the number of pages was never included.

However, total page count is important for certain citation formats and bibliographic references.
Would it be possible to include this element in a future version of the Crossref metadata schema?

This is just a question for clarification.

I’ve passed that suggestion along to our Head of Metadata for consideration in future schema versions. The Books Interest Group will weigh in if necessary as well.
