Good morning.
I would like to know if it is possible to change the DOI type from journal to book, as it has been assigned incorrectly. How?
Thank you very much and best regards.
Hello,
Thanks for your message.
Yeah, sure, that’s possible. However, it needs to be done by our support team. So, if you can reach us at support@crossref.org and provide the details of the journal and book involved, we can change the title record in our system. Please include as much data as possible, for example, titles, ISSN, EISSN, ISBN, etc.
Best,
Thank you very much for your reply and for your invaluable assistance. I will prepare an Excel file with all the information and send it to you. As I mentioned in my previous email, it is a matter of converting the type of DOI from journal to book.
Best,
Dear Arley,
One last question: with this change, will there be any loss of information, or will all metadata be preserved? It is important to know. Thank you very much.
Best,
Raúl
Hi Raúl
We will change only the record type from journal to book in our system, but metadata will remain the same. Crossref does not update, edit, or correct publisher-provided metadata directly.
However, to update or correct the metadata deposited for a DOI you will need to redeposit the DOI with the correct metadata included. Be sure to include all available metadata when redepositing, as the metadata recorded in our system will be overwritten by the new deposit.
Dear Arley,
Thank you very much for your reply. I understand, therefore, that we do not have to do anything and that, logically, if in the future any metadata needs to be updated or modified, re-depositing the DOI is more than sufficient.
If you would be so kind, please let me know when the process has been completed.
I reiterate my gratitude for your work.
Best regards,
Dear Arley,
I am attaching an Excel file with all the information.
FRDC_DOI_Crossref.xlsx (141,6 KB)
Here are the details:
- The publication consists of 11 volumes.
- Each volume has been assigned an ISBN and a DOI.
- Each volume contains a number ‘n’ of chapters, and each chapter has a DOI assigned and deposited.
- The first 10 volumes were deposited with MetadataManager. These are the ones that need to be changed from journal to book, as they do not have an ISSN but an ISBN.
- The last volume (11), with its chapters, has been deposited via the Web Deposit tool, already as books and not as a journal. Therefore, this one does not need to be changed.
I have attached an Excel file with all the data (11 tabs, each with the information for one volume).
It is important that no information (metadata) is lost in this process, as it has been quite long and arduous.
I hope I have been clear and concise.
I look forward to hearing from you and take this opportunity to send you my best regards.
Thank you very much.
