Does a DOI associated with a pending publication lose the pending status once published?

Hi Crossref,

I am updating our site to submit accepted papers as pending publication. Once the paper has been published and we submit new XML, do we need to do anything to remove the pending publication status?

I assume the new XML solves this automatically, but have not seen anything explicitly stating this.

Hello, and thanks for your question.

Yes, once you overwrite the DOI’s metadata with a full metadata submission of any non-pending-pub record type, the pending status is removed and the DOI will resolve to the landing page URL that you included in your metadata submission, rather than to the pending pub notification page.
