Hello all,
Collin from Crossref here. If you’re wondering why you received this message, it’s because it was posted in a channel on Crossref’s community forum that sends and email alert to all active members whenever anyone posts in it. We’ve restricted new posts in this channel to Crossref staff now. I’m going to respond to this question and then lock the topic; if you have any further questions, please feel free to start a new discussion.
@epubsdkma asked why they were receiving the error message ISSN (25831356) is assigned to another title (Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture) when they were attempting to deposit a metadata record. I want to highlight @kzubaidasussex for your helpful response; you are correct. The problem is that Crossref’s system requires that the title submitted for a particular journal match the title we have on file for that journal based on earlier metadata deposits. In this case, you were attempting to deposit metadata records with the journal title ISAH Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture, but the title on file in our system based on existing DOI deposits is Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture (no ISAH at the start). Because these titles are different, the deposit is failing.
What can you do? You will either need to:
- Retry the deposit with the title updated to the title we have on file, Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture, or
- Send a direct message to our membership team to request that we update the title on file to ISAH Indian Journal of Arid Horticulture, then retry the original deposit.
Note that this journal also appears to be held in our system by a different member, so we may also need to conduct a title transfer from that membership to your own membership. If you contact our membership team, we will be happy to discuss this with you further.
If anyone has any other questions about other journals or about anything else DOI-related, please visit our Community Forum and post a new topic. We’re always here to help!
